Sandy Beach

One of the most popular areas on the lake! Sandy beach is a long, sandy peninsula where you can beach the boat, play in the sand and swim. There’s multiple small islands around the beach that can be explored as well. Expect a crowd on the weekends.

Big Bay

Another very popular area for boaters on Rough River! This local favorite, located in a no-ski zone, is a great spot to anchor down and tie up with other boaters.

Cave Creek Cliffs

A beautiful spot on the lake just down the lake from the Cave Creek boat ramp. Tall cliffs line the banks making this area a must see.

The Dam

Located by the Rough River Dam State Resort Park and Grayson’s Landing restaurant. This is a great spot to stop for food, fuel and other supplies. Every year, there’s an amazing 4th of July fireworks display held at this location.

Ski Island

Home of the yearly live concert event Music at The Island. This is a fun place to hang out if you’re on the southern end of the lake.

Axtel Bay

A large bay positioned in between Rainbow Gardens and the Axtel Campground. This is not a no-ski or idle zone so the water can be rough at times. That being said, it’s still a popular area for boaters to stop and hangout.

George’s Branch

Popular spot that’s a short ride from the North Fork boat ramp. There’s almost always a small crowd here on the weekends.

Browns Hideaway Bay

This low-key spot is a great place to stop if you’re looking to get away from the traffic of the main channel. While you’re here, make sure you check out the cliffs in the idle zone. Just past that, you’ll find the Brown’s Hideaway boat ramp.
